Care for Special Populations in Pandemic Adds Challenges
The calls began coming in the first week of March. Staff at the group homes we work with wanted direction on how to protect their tenants. Considering that these homes housed individuals with developmental disabilities who also tend to have significant physical and psychiatric comorbidities, they were at high risk for complications from COVID-19. But staying inside, changing routines and shutting these individuals off from their families could stimulate significant aggressive behaviors. How should we handle this? Read more...
UMA's House of Delegates is going online this year - September 11 & 12, 2020. UAFP has several delegate spots to fill this year. To serve as a delegate, you must be both a member of UAFP and UMA. Please note: you do not have to be an experienced delegate to participate! You just need to be interested in legislative issues that affect your patients and your practice! Masks Now Mandated in Public in Salt Lake and Summit CountiesAfter urgent appeals from medical groups and local government leaders, Governor Herbert has allowed face masks to be mandated in SL and Summit Counties. "This should not be a political issue. This is a health concern in our community and I just think it’s unfortunate and where we see people not complying, we need to keep some distance," SL County Mayor Jenny Wilson said. Read more...
Harmon's Grocery Stores to Require Masks for Customers as of July 5thThe mask requirement goes into effect Saturday at the chain's Salt Lake County stores, as mandated in a county-wide order for public places.
