RESEARCH UPDATE: PBCC Grant Winner Dr. Craig Meyers Moves Forward with Discovery that Kills Cancer Cells

The PA Breast Cancer Coalition has awarded more than $3.2 million in research grants to scientists right here in Pennsylvania working to find a cure for breast cancer. One of our grant winners, Dr. Craig Meyers of Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, continues to make incredible strides in his quest to find a cure for cancer. Meyers' team has found a special virus (called adeno-associated virus type 2 [AAV2]) that kills cancer cells in laboratory tests. The next step is taking his studies to human clinical trials.

Hundreds of PA Breast Cancer Coalition supporters spend a fun day floating down the Susquehanna River at this year's Caboobies event. In total, they raised $11,690! What a creative and awesome way to touch the lives of women facing breast cancer in Pennsylvania. To date, Caboobies organizers and participants have contributed more than $24,000 to the PBCC! On behalf of the survivors, families and researchers we serve, THANK YOU!
