Long-Acting Injectables for Psychosis

Long-Acting injectables (LAIs) are injectable medications typically given to treat psychosis (hallucinations or delusions) in people living with schizophrenia.  Some LAIs may also be used for individuals with bipolar disorder. LAIs allow for the slow release of medication over a longer period of time. They can help improve adherence to medication and reduce the occurrence and frequency of symptom relapse.

Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that occurs during the same season each year. Researchers think that SAD is caused by changes in the level of exposure to sunlight. Light therapy is the main treatment for SAD. Medications and psychotherapy (talk therapy) may also help reduce symptoms.

Pink Shirt Day is Coming

Pink Shirt Day, or Anti-Bullying day, is on February 22, 2023. It is a day when people come together by wearing pink shirts to show that they are against bullying. Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and over the internet. It is important that victims of bullying know that they are not alone and that there is help and support available.

The goal of this program is to improve health outcomes by removing barriers to access such as geography, transportation, and stigma, and address mental health and substance use challenges before they become more significant and debilitating. The program currently has the following locations across the Niagara Region - Pelham, Niagara on the lake, Crystal Beach and Wainfleet.
