Upcoming layout changes
This will be a busy week for layout changes along the route affected by the Christchurch Southern Motorway project.
The anticipated change in traffic management on Main South Road is due to take place midweek. All traffic will be moved on to the new northbound lanes on Main South Road between Hoskyns Road and Robinsons Road in a staged manner: citybound traffic first, followed by southbound traffic.
The other major change in road layout will occur for commuters travelling on Springs Road, close to the Halswell Junction Road roundabout. Use of a temporary diversion road is also likely to commence on Wednesday. The layout for this switch is shown below. Note the U-turn facility that has been constructed to maintain access to businesses (CCL, Fit 24 Gym, A1 Self Storage and ITM).
Cyclists and pedestrians will also need to follow a changed layout in this location so please pay attention to the signage.
Weather can always affect the timing of these planned changes but both switches in traffic management are most likely to occur Wednesday.
Please pay attention to temporary speed limits and drive to the conditions.
