As Goes the 737 MAX 8 . . .Wo uld you fly on a Boeing 737 Max 8 today? Given the two recent deadly 737 Max 8 crashes in a span of five months (Lion Air last fall and Ethiopian Airlines this month) and the subsequent global grounding of all of Boeing's 737 Max fleet, you can understand why passengers are rethinking their travel plans. To the place, Southwest Airline (which only flies Boeing 737s) reported declining ticket sales this week. (To answer my own question—sure, I'd fly a 737 Max 8 today. Because there isn't a 737 pilot alive who isn't now thoroughly updated and practiced on the precise safety measures to be taken should the plane "go erratic" again. In fact, this is probably the safest time ever to be a passenger on one of those 737 Max's. But that's just me.) Read more
Renovation BeginsPioneer Memorial Church is pleased to announce the beginning of its renovation project! You will soon start to see construction traffic and work being done to our roof. Our goal is to complete the project by the start of the fall school semester. In order to accomplish this our timeline needed to be adjusted. Roof work will begin on or around April 1 along with adjustments to interior lighting. For your safety, please observe all posted signage related to construction areas. For the most updated information regarding construction, safety, and use of the church, please go to www.pmchurch.org/renovate/updates. First Tuesday FocusSix years ago this spring, this campus, and congregation began to claim God’s profound promise: “Behold, I will do a new thing. . . . I will pour water on those who are thirsty, and floods on the dry ground. I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring” (Isaiah 43:19; 44:3). Much has transpired since May 2013. In fact, you might be able to identify some of God's “new things” He has brought to this campus and congregation over these half dozen years. But since the middle of February, our House of Prayer GROW Group has been reading Wesley Duewel’s Mighty Prevailing Prayer (click here for free pdf). And we have become convicted that we need to “prevail” or persist in this specific prayer petition. Reviving church and school is always the will of God (see Psalm 85:6), as is saving lost sinners (2 Peter 3:9) and glorifying His name (John 12:28). So on this First Tuesday (a monthly Day of Fasting and Prayer across both campus and congregation) why not join together in claiming God’s promise to pour His Spirit upon our school and our church. Wherever Tuesday finds you, won’t you please set aside some quiet time to “prevail” before our loving Father in heaven, who—Jesus assures us—is eager to “give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him” (Luke 11:13). "God does not say, Ask once, and you shall receive. He bids us ask. Unwearyingly persist in prayer. . . . The more earnestly and steadfastly we ask, the closer will be our spiritual union with Christ. We shall receive increased blessings because we have increased faith” (Christ’s Object Lessons 145, 146). |
