FIGHTING HUNGER IN HARRIS COUNTY!

In Harris County, there are 706,000 residents (18%) who are food insecure. This means that there was a time in the previous year when they had difficulty meeting their food needs. Some of these Harris County residents are eligible for federal and state food programs like SNAP (financial assistance for food), WIC (Women, Infants & Children's program), free school lunches and free summer lunches, but estimates show that only about 55% of those who are eligible actually use these programs. If you need assistance, please contact the Houston Food Bank main location for walk-in; face to face assistance at 535 Portwall St, Houston TX 77029 (M-F, 8-5pm and Sat 8:30am-12:30pm) or enroll for state food programs at www.yourtexasbenefits.com.

LETICIA ROLLED INTO TOWN!

Senator Garcia joined her Senate sister, Leticia Van de Putte as she traveled around the great state of Texas on her bus tour earlier this month! Catching up with Senator Vand De Putte in Dallas, Senator Garcia spent 4 days covering East Texas, Houston, Fort Bend and the Corpus Christi area. They visited Democrats and supporters getting out the vote for Wendy and Leticia this November!

WENDY JOINED IN "SABOR DEL NORTHSIDE" FESTIVAL!

Senator Garcia showed off Houston's wonderful Northside neighborhood to another Senate sister, this time the next Governor of Texas, Sen. Wendy Davis! They swung by Sabor del Northside Festival which brings together Northside residents, businesses, schools, & community organizations!

April 17 (10am - 12pm) The Intergovernmental Relations Committee (IGR) will hold a hearing at the University of Houston, Student Center to discuss interim charges relating to Intergovernmental Relations, Economic Development and Government Relations.
