Bringing Energy To Our RecoveryHello, As restrictions ease, we welcome back the gentle return of business activity to our region. Many of you have demonstrated incredible resilience and innovation as you re-opened your doors and adapted to change. We've had an overwhelming response to the City of Charles's Sturt Economic Support and Stimulus Package launched last month with many of our businesses and artists successful in grant applications that will help them recover, reset and prepare for the future. In this edition we share the many resources and opportunities available to help you recover, reset and re-imagine your business.
If you know other businesses who would benefit from this information, share this email with them and encourage them to be part of the Western Business Leaders.
Business Support Program The Business Support Program aims to support businesses in the City of Charles Sturt to adapt and innovate in response to changing market conditions.
One of our first successful grant recipients was wholesale roastery, Cirelli Coffee who faced a huge challenge in the COVID-19 environment.
Nicknamed the underground roaster, Cirelli's supply cafes, coffee shops and a number of university campuses. However, with many forced to close they had to quickly rethink operations.
"We had only opened Thursday and Saturday primarily to support our wholesale customers. With more people in the area working from home, we opened up further for retail trade, reinventing ourselves to keep our staff working and roaster in operation. The grant will be used for digital marketing support to help us better connect with our local community."
Gianni Cirelli, Cirelli Coffee

Live & Local Our local live music and arts industry has been severely impacted by COVID-19 and after meeting with some venues, we worked together to create some new exciting initiatives. For our local live music icon, The Gov the City of Charles Sturt’s Live & Local initiative provided just the right remedy. "It was really helpful in getting us
activated again, I think we’d got into a bit of a flat spot and it was just what we needed to get us going…as a result of this program we are going to buy a camera and continue with our ukulele streaming and also stream the shows for our disability groups unable to attend at the moment”
Melissa Tonkin, Governor Hindmarsh Hotel The Arts and Culture Package funded by the City of Charles Sturt provides an opportunity for local artists and arts organisations to engage with local audiences. The live-music performances were streamed from local bars over a three-week period to support local musicians, the small business and community connection as restrictions begin to ease. Live & Local has delivered 12 events across 3 venues with 45 performers involved and has had over 36,000 views so far.
Upcoming events and past performances can be seen here. Applications are now open for local musicians and small businesses who would like to be part of the program from 1 July.
