Unpacking the learning crisis for children with disabilities We have published the paper “Every Learner Matters” with the World Bank and Leonard Cheshire. The paper explores how the global learning crisis relates to children with disabilities, examining education systems and the importance of measuring learning achievements for children with disabilities. Accessible Digital Textbooks for All We have been contributing to UNICEF's development of accessible online textbooks. We are pleased to invite you to celebrate the website launch on Tuesday 03 December 2019 in Danny Kaye, UNICEF House, 3 UN Plaza, NYC from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Pacific Disability Forum Workshop David Corner, our Regional Representative for Asia Pacific and National Self-advocacy Adviser at IHC, reports on the Pacific Disability Forum Workshop in Fiji where he attended to present his work and build networks across Pacific countries. The Belonging Conference Over 1400 delegates participated in the Belonging Conference in Tel Aviv, Israel. Our President, Sue Swenson, and Inclusion Europe's President, Jyrki Pinomaa, presented on the role of families supporting persons with intellectual disabilities. Look out for a full report on this conference in our January newsletter! Self-advocates present at InclusionWorks! Workshops During the recent consortium-wide Inclusion Works Start-Up Workshops, self-advocates in project countries had the opportunity to prepare and deliver presentations in Nairobi, Kenya to inform project partners about the importance of inclusion and barriers to employment for people with intellectual disabilities. InclusionWorks! Family Consultations on Inclusive Employment We headed to Lagos, Nigeria, to speak with family members of people with intellectual disabilities at Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria about the challenges families experience related to supporting employment.
