GENERAL

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

We would like to remind members that the next Annual General Meeting for Equestrian Western Australia Incorporated will be held at the Oceanfoam Room on the 1st Floor of the State Equestrian Centre, 303 Cathedral Avenue Brigadoon 6069, commencing at 7:00pm next Thursday 27 April 2017. The Annual Report, Agenda and Minutes from last year's meeting are now available here.

HOST CITIES NAMED FOR FEI YOUTH EVENTS

The FEI Bureau has allocated host cities for 15 major equestrian events over the next four years. A total of seven Championships and Finals for young Jumping, Dressage and Vaulting athletes will be staged in Asia, South America and Europe. MORE

NEW COMMITTEE BYLAWS 

The new Committee Bylaws and Appointment and Procedures Policy is now effective. This update has been made to create a clear structure for the operation of all National Discipline Committees. MORE

MEASURING RULES TO CHANGE 1 JULY 2017

The new Measuring Rules will come into effect on 1 July 2017. This is to allow a period for members to familiarise themselves with the changes. MORE

For the first time in its 65-year history, Equestrian Australia is delighted to announce it has an Official Accommodation Partner – Adina Apartment Hotels (part of TFE Hotels group, based in Sydney). The partnership with Equestrian Australia will deliver discounts to all EA Members across Australia, plus special seasonal offers during competitions and events. CLUBS

GOW-GATES CLUB DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM

Equestrian Australia has announced the return of the Club Development Grant Program, this year with a sole focus on safety and risk management. EWA affiliated clubs can now apply for up to $3,000 of funding to improve safety standards. Applications close 27 April. MORE

ENDURANCE - NEWS

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR BULLIO ARABIANS TRANS-TASMAN COMPETITION

The EA Endurance Committee, in conjunction with ESNZ, are resurrecting the Trans-Tasman competition. This year’s competition, the Bullio Arabians Trans-Tasman, will be held at the Stirling Crossing FEI Ride in August and will be conducted over the 2* 120km event. The Committee is looking for expressions of interest for the following: 1 Chef d’Equipe, 3 senior riders and 1 youth rider. MORE


EVENTING - NEWS

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.

2017 OCEANIA EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIPS LONG LIST ANNOUNCED

Equestrian Australia has confirmed its long list of riders and horses to compete against New Zealand at the 2017 Oceania Team Championships in Melbourne from 8-12 June. Congratulations to WA riders Shenae Lowings, Tayah Andrew and Sonja Johnson for being long listed. MORE

INTERSCHOOL - NEWS

LOCAL SPORTING CHAMPIONS GRANTS

Round 1 of the Local Sporting Champions (LSC) program is now open to 12 to 18 Year olds involved in competing, coaching or officiating at state, national and international sporting competition. Grants of $500 are available to successful applications to cover travel/accommodation/uniform or equipment. Round 1 applications close 30 June. MORE

2018 WA INTERSCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATIONS

The 2018 WA Interschool Championships qualification period is now in effect as of 9 March 2017 ending 13 March 2018. We strongly encourage riders to get their qualifications during this year rather than trying to fit them in before entries close.

Please note that the qualifying requirements have changed for next year's event. Download the 2018 Qualifying Guidelines for more information.

MODERN PENTATHALON WA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Modern Pentathlon Western Australia is bringing you a great opportunity to experience Show Jumping the Modern Pentathlon way with their upcoming WA State Championships on 6 and 7 May. Come along and see what Australia had to do to win Gold in this sport at Rio!

Show Jumping heights are 65cms, 80cms, 90cms, 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.20m. There is also a Tetrathlon event (Horse) without Fencing and there are events to suit all ages and levels. Even if you are not a very good swimmer or runner, there are separate awards for the Fencing and Shooting components.

Sponsored by Brookleigh Cross-country and co-hosted by Swan Valley Horse and Pony Club, MPAWA and UWA Fencing Club.

Come along and support the sports of Show Jumping, Tetrathlon and Modern Pentathlon WA. There are Interstate Modern Pentathletes competing in the Tetrathlon and Modern Pentathlon sections, so let's show them a great event with good competition.

SOUTHERN CROSS CVI WRAP

A highly successful edition of the Southern Cross CVI was staged in the indoor arena of K Ranch at Mount Hunter, NSW. Congratulations to WA member Kieran Halliday on achieving a qualifying score for the Junior World Championships, to be held later this year in Austria, and for becoming WA's first 2* vaulter. MORE
