EWA BOARD VACANCY

The Equestrian Western Australia Board of Directors is currently seeking an appropriately skilled Board Member to serve for the remainder of Mr Colin Chantler’s term following his resignation to enable him to join the Equestrian Australia Board.

The Board is seeking a candidate with a strong marketing background and demonstrated experience in a business management environment.

CHANGES TO FEI EQUINE PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES LIST

The FEI Bureau has approved changes to the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances List brought forward by the FEI List Expert Group to come into effect on 1 January 2018. These changes are published on inside.fei.org in order to start the process of familiarisation.

CRACKDOWN ON VISAS FOR OVERSEAS VISITORS

The Department of Immigration is scrutinizing the planned activities of people arriving in Australia on a visitor visa or Electronic Travel Authority. There have been recent cases of this impacting planned equestrian events, with participants being denied entry to Australia. If you are the organiser or participant of an equestrian clinic or show it is vital to ensure that an appropriate visa is obtained. MORE

EOI FOR STEWARDS COURSE

Expressions of interest (EOI) are now being sought for an EA Stewards course with FEI Steward Chris Wallis on 3 November at Capel Pony Club. New candidates and current stewards are welcome. There will also be an opportunity to be mentored at Swan River CIC competition on the 4 & 5 November. A minimum number of candidates is required to ensure this course goes ahead, so please register with Sara Botten SaraBotten@equestrianwa.org.au.

MASTERS OF DRESSAGE RETURNS

The Dressage Judges Task Force is excited to announce the return of FEI 5* Judge Stephen Clarke to WA this November!

Masterclass featuring Freestyle to Music
11 November 2017 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Stephen is keen to show how music and choreography can influence the performance of the horse. Stephen will also be joined by guest judge music specialist, Ginny Creed, and together they will show how music enhances performance. It promises to be a great night out at the SEC. There will be beautiful horses and top entertainment including a VIP dinner, food vans, bar etc.

Symposium
12 November 2017 10:00am - 2:00pm

This is a must for all Dressage enthusiasts! Stephen will work through the levels with a variety of horses, make commentary on test riding and help the rider to make improvements. He will show how the correct training enables the horse to reach its potential. Q&A sessions will be included with a panel of experts. Riders, coaches, trainers, judges and all dressage lovers are invited to come along and get involved.

CALLING FOR EADJC NOMINATIONS

The Equestrian Australia Dressage Judges Committee (EADJC) will have three positions up for nomination as per the process outlined in the EA Committee Bylaws. The vacancies are for 3-year terms from 2018-2020. Applicants must have current EA membership and be a National A level judge and be an active Judge Educator. Applications close at 5:00pm on Friday 3 November. MORE

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members. MURRAY CNC DATE CHANGE

The organisers of the Murray CNC event have had to postpone their event as the grounds at Murray Regional Equestrian Centre are too wet to safely run the event. The event will now run on the 25 & 26 November. Entries are now being accepted on KTrials and will close 10 November.

There has been a change made to the National Eventing Rules in relation to MER’s (Minimum Eligibility Requirements). This rule will come into effect immediately as it relates to safety within the sport. MORE

BONEO PARK AWARDED AUS CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR NEXT 3 YEARS

EA has announced that the Australian Jumping Championships for 2018, 2019 and 2020 have been awarded to Boneo Park, VIC. Earlier this year, expressions of interest were called for the three year contract and following a robust process, Boneo Park was successful in their bid. MORE
