A short film from a recent Wilddog Safari

The main focus of this safari is the elusive and enigmatic Wild Dog.

Zambia's Kafue  -  Feature and ideas
from the people who know it best

The Busanga Plains are a vast seasonal flood plain in the north of Zambia's Kafue National Park. In geographic terms, think of it as Zambia's version of Botswana's Okavango Delta. It's stark beauty inspired the original creation of Busanga Safaris, in an effort to publicise and by doing so help protect the Kafue as a whole, and her wildlife.

Now with 17 years living, working and arranging safaris here you can justifiably understand that we love this place. We have seen the Kafue re-emerge as a key destination for any wildlife safari to Zambia and the witness the creation of some of the most exciting new safari camps in Africa.

A Kafue Safari is simply breathtaking. I think it's fair to say only a Kafue safari has that rare feeling of true, absolute solitude where you genuinely feel you have the entire bush to yourself.

It's quite possible to see more than 40 different mammals and over 150 bird species (there are 495 recorded) in just a single week in the Kafue. That's almost unheard of anywhere else.

With an especially high number of Antelope species inhabiting all of the key ecosystems there are quite naturally a high density of predators. Lions are a big feature of the Kafue and remain a favourite with many of our Kafue Safari clients. So too are Leopards, but also watch out for five other Cats (can you guess what they are?) and increasingly Wild Dogs, all of which are encountered.

So now you know there are lots of animal and birds to satisfy any safari enthusiast, but equally important is how you experience them, and they you. This is where our knoweledge and relationship with the Kafue allow us to really take you under the skin of the Kafue on what is surely one of Africa's last great safari desitinations.

Busanga are the recognised experts if you're looking to book a Kafue Safari and are experts on Zambia as a whole. Our experience means we are able to make suggestions to ensure you get the very best from your Kafue Safari. The kind of safari you will remember and talk about for years to come.
