A message from our Chairman, Jeremy Smith
|
As we wait together with the rest of the country to hear more from Prime Minister Scott Morrison about a national framework outlining how and when coronavirus restrictions will be eased, we want to share this special message from our Chairman, Jeremy Smith, on the Foundation’s resolve in the wake of COVID19.

An update from Jeff Darmanin, our Executive Director

Our premier fundraising event cancelled
After serious consideration, The Million Dollar Lunch committee has decided to cancel The Million Dollar Lunch 2020 planned for August. The Committee recognises the significant financial challenges our corporate sponsors and supporters are experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic and consider it appropriate that the Foundation does not burden them during this period of uncertainty.

|
We look forward to delivering the event in 2021 and we will share our progress and updates as they come to hand.
This decision deprives us of $2m of revenue ─ or more than half of our annual fundraising income. The Foundation is pursuing other fundraising initiatives to support our work.

Future forecast
Our previous fundraising and high-yielding Million Dollar Lunch events has the Foundation in good financial stead. We will honour the commitment to the 31 projects in clinical care and clinical research and this is mostly thanks to the outstanding, ongoing support of our donors and corporate partners.

Our people
The Foundation’s small team of staff remain connected and engaged as they work from home on new and existing initiatives.
Our passionate focus continues because...
-
Of the children and families currently in treatment, around 80 families will have received the news their child has cancer in the past two months.
-
We owe it to the 1000 more families will also find out their child has cancer in the coming year.
If you are in a position to help, then our Directors and Chairman would welcome the opportunity to talk.
Stay safe in these troubling times,
Regards
Jeff Darmanin
