Autism school gets approved

Queensland’s first autism school at Alexandra Hills has gained accreditation from the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board enabling it to open next year.

The Sycamore School will provide a holistic, visual learning environment for about 70 autistic children from 2017. Council supported the school organiser, ASD Learning’s application to lease a disused building at the Alexandra Hills TAFE campus for the school and is encouraging locals to attend a fundraising event on 24 July at the Norwell Motorplex on the Gold Coast.
