Main project works to begin in April
Construction of the main works in the Northern Corridor Improvements (NCI) project will get underway in April, kick starting off a major four year construction programme on the North Shore.
The NCI project's main works include upgrades to SH1 and SH18 (Upper Harbour Highway); a new motorway connection near Constellation Drive; an extension of the Northern Busway to Albany Bus station; and over 7kms of new walking and cycling paths.
Residents and commuters on the North Shore will already have noticed early preparation works ahead of the main works, including night works which have been underway since January and survey and mitigation works for other utility providers with service lines close to the motorway.
Extensive community engagement is already underway to make sure that all affected neighbours and businesses know what will be happening during construction, ahead of time. See our story below for a contact point for the area near you.
Find out more; visit our open days
Come along to our upcoming Info Days (see details below) to view the final design, find out more about the construction staging near you, meet the team and join our contact databases.
At the open days our team will also be able to explain some enhancements made to the design since it was approved in late 2017. The design team has looked closely at construction-level innovations and the latest best practice traffic management ideas to improve customer journeys and reduce the impact of construction.
A new series of maps and posters will also be published on our website after the open days - www.nzta.govt.nz/auckland-northern-corridor
