Be Involved

Hope Trending is a world wide event that will be made possible through the engagement of Pioneer Memorial Church members as on-site volunteers. Meet Lynell DeWind - our on-site Volunteer Coordinator and hear why she's excited about being involved.

What inspired your involvement with Hope Trending?
"Late last spring I heard that Pioneer Memorial Church would be hosting a new type of evangelistic effort that focused on bringing good news to friends and family in a comfortable, approachable setting. Because I was also leading a Grow Group (our small groups at Pioneer), I saw a direct connection between the effort to create community around a shared interest and these meetings. I was excited by the possibilities of how Grow Groups could be involved. I also wondered how the volunteers could create a great experience for their guests at the broadcast site. My questions, were would the volunteers benefit by meeting each other prior to the event by increasing their comfort with each and helping to extend a warm welcome to guests?"

What is your hope for our volunteer experience?
"I hope to see friendships made not only between volunteers, but with those who come on-site to the Howard Performing Arts Center (our live broadcast site). Watch Parties in homes have the expectation that relationships are already established. Not so at the broadcast site. I hope the volunteers see themselves as Watch Party hosts and get to connect in new ways with a diverse audience. I hope at the end of the experience, they feel they made a difference."
