2014 Stencil Art Prize Exhibition - OUR BEST YET

This year's Stencil Art Prize Exhibition at Ambush Gallery was our biggest ever with more paintings exhibiting, more artists participating and more countries represented.

Plus we sold more art works than we ever have before - which means that many of our hardworking artists not only make a sale, but more homes are alive with stencil paintings. So good! A big thanks to every one who made it to the launch and to all of the finalists who travelled to attend the night (above pictured left).

Congratulations again to 23rd Key for winning the 2014 Stencil Art Prize and our Highly Commendeds Monstfur, Tinku and Boo. If you missed our last write up about them, click here.

Entries for the 2015 Stencil Art Prize will open on the 1 February 2015. Check out more pics from the launch on facebook here.

We'll be in hiatus for the Australian summer, so next time you hear from us will be 1 Feb 2015.

A look at the lives of 17 Sydney Stencil artists

Sydney Stencils - a free eBook. "Lately, I’ve been trying to base my stencils off colour, rather then light and shadow. Rather then building up the layers of brightness e.g from black to white, I use bright block colours and use black to give it definition. On my newest work I’m going to try out using gold leaf as a layer, which will add a textural dimension to the work. I also mist spray paint a lot, which creates a cool ‘galaxy-y’ pattern."
Jackson Farley
