ROBERT ANDERSON OVERLOOKED BY UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN OFFICIALS ANN ARBOR - In the wake of the report detailing the decades of sexual abuse and rape at the hands of Dr. Robert Anderson, Spotlight Michigan is highlighting the hundreds of heinous accounts that University of Michigan officials turned a blind eye to. More than 850 victims have come forward with allegations of rape, sexual assault, and inappropriate behavior by a predator that continued to be promoted and protected by team leaders and university officials. These are their stories.
"Dr. Anderson Conducted Medically Unnecessary Examinations (PG 25) In 1968, an undergraduate student sought treatment at UHS for a sore throat and laryngitis. During her examination, Dr. Anderson asked if she was pregnant and then performed a pelvic examination. The patient reminded Dr. Anderson that she was seeking treatment for a sore throat, but Dr. Anderson continued with the pelvic examination, explaining that it was required to make sure she was not pregnant."
It's time to hold University of Michigan officials accountable for being complicit in the coverup of this decades-long abuse.
