On June 6, 1944, brave Canadian soldiers, alongside our Allies, stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, in a courageous fight for freedom. Their sacrifice and unwavering determination in the face of unimaginable danger helped to liberate Europe and pave the way for a more peaceful world. We remember with deep gratitude the over thousands of Canadians who lost their lives during the Second World War, and the countless others who returned home forever changed. Here in Niagara, countless families sent their loved ones off to fight, forever marked by their bravery and resilience. Their stories must be kept alive for generations to come. Let us take this day to honour the bravery of our Canadian veterans and all those who fought for freedom during World War II. Their legacy continues to inspire us to stand up for what is right and fight for a more just and peaceful world.” Media contactDaryl Barnhart |
