Message from our National Director - Steve Bailey

Wow... December already, not far from Christmas.

It's been a long year for me and God has done some great stuff. It finished with two amazing events in the form of National Staff Attack and New Swell.
It's deeply satisfying to see the CSA National Leaders together, fired up to serve and looking to next year with passion and fervour to reach the surfing community.

New Swell (Junior Leadership program) blew my mind, it was such a privilege to be a part of the week, to see the connection and unity, personal breakthroughs and God move through all of that. Normally I come home stoked but really tired. This time I was pumped about what had just happened and excited about the future. The future of CSA is in good hands with our new generation of leaders. I was so encouraged to see them all seeking God for the future he has for them, looking outside the box, looking to new things and exploring the possibilities.

As I write, I stare at a map of Australia above my desk - it screams opportunity. So much coastline, so many surfers. I hope and I pray  that over the Christmas break you can spend some time praying for CSA, for these opportunities and how you can join the movement.

I pray Gods richest blessings for your Christmas and New Year, looking forward to hearing about the new things God is doing in you and through you...

2014 Wrap Ups from around Australia...

Girls Movement

It's been a great year for CSA Girls who've been reppin' in droves at the CS National Gathering WA, CSI Conference in Costa Rica, Regional Camps across Oz & in their local missions.  There have been camps (CS Vicco girls Spring Fling), comps (CS Ulladulla Winter comp), bibles studies, free surfs, girls travelling overseas to serve other CS groups (Thailand, Sweden, Peru) & plenty of adventure.... all with a purpose to encourage girls in life and their journey with God.  Seeing the stoke overflow overseas has been a great testament to the heart of our movement & our CSA family.  We'll be hosting the new CS South Africa National Women's Co-ordinator, Shannon Bolotin at the end of this year to give her a glimpse of the girls movement in Oz & encourage her as she lays the foundations for CS Girls in Africa.

As they say, a picture says a thousand words, so check out our Instagram, Facebook & Twitter & follow our adventures together!

QLD

We were stoked once again to serve and love the QLD surfing community in 2014. Knowing that God has called us to be the ‘salt and light’ in the surfing community our missions in Coolum, Maroochydore, Nth Brisbane, Main beach and Southern Goldy have had great impact in their communities.  Heaps of camps, bible studies, photo shred sessions, Paddle Against Poverty, ‘tight and bright’ surf comps and 1000’s of sausages cooked… have resulted in surfers having the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel.

Central NSW

As I stand on the cliffs above the reefs at Cronulla watching with expectancy the clean lines of a new swell brushed by the early off shore wind and back lit by the dawn's soft glow, I reflect.

2013 ended with the fire of new leaders rising out of CS New Swell program. I watched as 2014 rolled in and was excited by the blessing that the Lord bought to our region through his strengthened touch and direction in their lives. As I write I realise it is only a matter of weeks until another crew roll into the next New Swell program...Yewww...

For myself being back at work full time this year has shortened my personal capacity to engage in Regional Leadership as much as I would desire. Though this has taught me a fresh that there is no correlation between the quantity of time I put in and what God can do with the time I have solely given to Him and honoured in prayer.

Our highlights as a region have continued to be the unity of mission leadership getting together to share and pray over three weekends a year. This has continued to birth vision and growth corporately and individually.

This years regional camp was at Birubi Beach. Al and I took time out to go up a couple of months prior to just walk and pray over the site and from that moment as we prayed  with heavy rain falling on us I felt Gods presence all over it. Prophetically the storm broke and an amazing glow broke through the clouds. Needless to say camp was epic!! New families, new crew from Maroubra, swell, great weather, hand over fist blessing from the camp ground owners, packed community surf movie night where the gospel was solidly shared and lives changed and good relationships forged!! So stoked.

Every mission continues to be an absolute blessing and I cant thank each one of the mission leaders enough for what they sacrifice to be Christ to their community!

This year closes out with the region, particularly Cronulla, farewelling a legendary CS  family, the Crisps, who move to Ballina, Nth NSW (love them well Davo). Mike Crisp AKA "Crispy" has been a standout influence for all things God to the youth and broader surf community of Cronulla for over a decade and has grown through love, passion and sacrifice the Cronulla comp mission from a handful of groms to over a hundred families. We love you Mike, Bec, Jonah, Keenan & Ethan.

Victoria

What a blessed and full year we all have had! 2014 saw the coast of Vicco with a CS mission in each prominent surfing town across the state. We held four regional camps this year. We had a regional mens and woman’s camp and two grommet camps all along our rugged west coast.

Many un churched surfers came in direct contact with the gospel through our crew and stories they have shared. I spent four days in Tasmania visiting some of our CS ex pats and had a gathering of curious young salty crew around future possibilities.

Victoria finished the year hosting “New Swell” a national leadership iniative.. it was awesome to see 5 of our future leaders baptised ... check it out ..

We would like everyone to think of one person who isn't connected with the CSA family & if you could be the one to invite them to be a part of CSA, that would be awesome - Forward to a friend

Finally, we would just like to thank you for your ongoing support, whether you are in a mission, prayer partner, financial partner, grommet, old salt or anything in between or involved in any other way, we say.....
