Visioning the Outdoors

Yamba Sunset by Michelle Eason

Hi there,

Those longer days are with us again and we are all looking forward to a relaxing outdoorsy summer holiday. Early mornings, ocean swims, bushwalks, beach camping, picnics and paddling - the stuff of an Queensland summer holiday

With all those wonderful things however comes a few others to be aware of - snakes and insect bites, sunburn, electrical storms, bushfires and torrential rain. Please take care over the summer, look after yourselves and look after each other. Be considerate and be careful as nobody wants a repeat of what's happened on K'Gari / Fraser Island - a bushfire started by careless campers and a campfire not properly extinguished.

These resources might help you have a safer, happier and healthier summer ... all the outdoor activity and things to do info, links and suggestions under the Activities tab (see Main Menu on the website) and check out the Things to Do and Places to Go under Families on the new Nature Play QLD website too!

COVID Safe Plan Updates

Please note the following comment added to both industry plans in the recent November 17 updates. (Education (page 5), Recreation (page 9):

Where there is an inconsistency between the Restrictions on Businesses, Activities and Undertakings Direction  (the Direction) and this Industry Plan, the Direction will take precedence over the industry plan for the extent of the inconsistency.

Outdoor Education Providers please also note:

Under the COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Education Providers, there is a change to the density requirements for sleeping arrangements for school-aged children (Page 9), but the 1 person per 4 square metres rule still applies to adults in sleeping areas.
