To submit questions or feedback on the payment model, please email LFP.Billing@doctorsofbc.ca. Doctors of BC and BC Family Doctors continue to work to improve and expand the LFP Payment Model. We continue to listen to your feedback, meeting regularly with the provincial government to address concerns. Today we are providing the following updates:
LFP Locum registration formThe new LFP Locum registration form is ready to be completed as soon as possible by all physicians who are/will be billing under the LFP Payment Model for locum services. This includes locum physicians who enrolled and started billing under the LFP Payment Model starting in March 2023. The online form asks physicians to confirm their eligibility as an LFP Locum under the LFP Payment Model. Your responses to the questions will also directly contribute to future improvements to the LFP Payment Model and inform steps to strengthen primary care in BC. The form will take about 10 minutes to complete.
Details about LFP Locum billing and expanded locum eligibility can be found in the updated LFP Payment Schedule and the BC Family Doctors' web resources, including the Simplified LFP Guide and Billing Question Library. Panel cleanupA reminder that when enrolling in the LFP Payment Model, physicians commit to develop and submit an accurate list of empanelled patients for whom they have accepted responsibility. Panel uploads will commence in July and must be completed by October 31, 2023, or within three months of enrolling in the LFP Payment Model, whichever is later. Submissions will be done as a staged process over the next few months with physicians uploading their panel lists as they are ready; EMR vendors or Doctors of BC will provide physicians with instructions based on their EMR. To support you in preparing your accurate and up-to-date list of empanelled patients through your EMRs, self-serve guides and resources can be found here. You can also submit a service request for additional support or email psp@doctorsofbc.ca for more information. Upcoming EMR-specific webinars and drop-in sessions: OSCAR webinar:

Health Connect Registry expansionAs shared with you in a newsletter earlier this week, the provincial government and Doctors of BC announced the expansion of the Health Connect Registry (HCR) to help bring together unattached patients with longitudinal family doctors who have capacity to expand their panels. There is more information provided in the government news release. Doctors of BC also sent out a President’s Letter (member login required) to members on the expansion. Throughout the summer, we will be sending additional information about the new system and how you can submit information for your practice, as well as training resources (including guides, videos, and invitations to webinars). Billing tipsThe July 1 Payment Schedule provides additional clarity around “Billing the LFP Payment Model on the Same Day as Fee-for-Service, ICBC Services, or WorkSafeBC Services”. Since the launch of the LFP Payment Model, LFP enrolled physicians must enter start and stop times for any claims made for excluded services that are provided to patients that fall outside the LFP Payment Model including ICBC/WorkSafeBC claims. BC Family Doctors continues to update the LFP Billing Question Library in response to your billing questions. The Simplified LFP Guide is also updated regularly. Some helpful questions in the LFP Billing Question Library include:
