St John's School Newsletter Term 3 Week 6 St John's is a Child Safe School where all children are respected and are protected from harm. ![]() Principal's Message Dear Families,
Welcome to Week 6. - Thank goodness we are able to be at school, let’s hope that we can remain open for as long as possible. Parents who are picking up students must follow the directions in the Public Health Order, by wearing a mask and practising social distancing. Thank you for your support with this. Farewell Teddy Dabernig! - Today is Teddy’s last day with us at St John’s. Teddy and his family are moving to Warnambool to establish Dabernig Racing. The Dabernigs have been a part of St John’s School for about 15 years. Teddy’s older brother Hugo attended our school and Cassi has worked at St John’s as an Emergency Teacher, a Part Time Teacher and more recently providing Occupational Therapy for students through Enrich OT. We wish the Dabernig family the very best in their new adventures and hope one day soon they are holding a Melbourne Cup! Food to share/Birthdays - Under the current School Operations guide, students are not allowed to bring cupcakes or birthday cakes to school to share with their class. However, students are allowed to bring foods that are commercially made and individually packaged such as Freddo frogs. Minor Capital Works Grant - We were thrilled to find out that we had been successful in securing a Minor Capital Works Grant for $150,000. The Grant will be used to build a verandah over the Foundation room windows that will also provide shade for the deck area and also to replace the windows on Anderson St with new double glazed windows. We hope these works can be completed this year. Fees - Thank you to our families who continue to pay their fees. Fees keep our beautiful school running. We understand that times can be hard and there may be unexpected circumstances. Please make an appointment to see me if you would like to discuss payments. Yes, from this day forward all generations will call me blessed, For the Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name, And his mercy reaches from age to age for those who fear him. Reflection: Our Sunday’s Gospel reading invites us to consider Mary as a model of discipleship today. Through this literary song, Luke portrays Mary as a woman whose strength, future and purpose emerges from the heart of God. As she considers the meaning of blessing, joy and readiness in her own spirituality she offers today’s world the gift of humility, acceptance and love only a mother could know. ![]() Click on the Sandpiper Logo to view the latest publication ![]() Lunch orders are on Wednesdays!
