2016/2017 Chili Midwinters - Sausalito Yacht Club

Racing doesn't stop just because the summer is over.  Your club invites all boats out for the

2016/2017 SYC Chili Midwinters

If you are new to racing or getting back into it, the Midwinters are an ideal series to work out the kinks;  winds are lighter, the temperature can be warmer than August!  If you are an experienced racer, the currents and the light conditions provide some extra challenge.
2016: November 6th, December 4th
2017: January 8th, February 5th, March 5th

After racing, come back to the SYC club-house for stories, race video, complementary chili and racer beverages.
Sign-up at http://www.regattanetwork.com/event/11685 (SYC members can charge to their member account). We're keeping the fee for the Series the same as last year at $125, if you register before October 31st, $150 thereafter.  (We're doing this to encourage early sign-ups, so we can figure out the best division splits).

For more information, contact Chuck Cihak at race@sausalitoyachtclub.org
We look forward to seeing you on the water.

Best Regards,
Andrew Mould - Sausalito Yacht Club

You must RSVP by emailing Vivian Matuk at vmatuk@coastal.ca.gov
Location: Martinez Yacht Club111 Tarantino Rd, Martinez, CA 94553 (Thanks to the club, its Board, Frank Kastl, and Olivia Ortega (Marina Manager). Parking: Free!  Map

We hope for your enthusiastic participation and offer plenty of time to ask questions of the experts. Topics will include:

An update on the Statewide Clean Boating Program (Vivian Matuk (CA State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways and CA Coastal Commission). Learn about some of the program accomplishments and opportunities to partner with this program in 2017.

The New California Boater Card. Bria Miller (CA State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways) will be providing an overview and update on the new California Vessel Operator Card (CVOC) program that goes into effect on January 1, 2018. You will be learning about when boaters will need to have a California Boater Card (CBC), who will be required to have a card, how the program will be phased in, who will be exempt from the needing a CBC, among other important information.

• Do you have that sinking feeling? Learn about the Surrendered and Abandoned Vessel Exchange (SAVE) Grant Program. Receive an update about how this program creates a strong solution to the dilemma of abandoned vessels and marine debris in California. Susan Sykes (CA State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways Derelict Vessel Programs Administrator) will explain how everyone can benefit from SAVE, and how this helpful grant program can work in your community.

Delta Aquatic Weeds: Persistent, But Under Control. Leandro Ramos (CA State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways-DBW, Senior Environmental Scientist). New Pumpout App for Boaters. James Muller and Adrien Baudrimont (San Francisco Estuary Partnership) will present on a new mobile application they are developing for release in March, 2017. This app, funded by DBW's Clean Vessel Act Outreach and Education Grant, will allow boaters to find sewage pumpout stations, get information about sewage in the environment, report any non-working pumpout stations, and send in information about the pumpouts they visit. This new app will be available, for free, for both Android and Apple phones.

You must RSVP by emailing Vivian Matuk at vmatuk@coastal.ca.gov
