On May 15, 2021, Public Health Ontario (PHO) released an updated HIV Serology and HIV PCR Test Requisition. The changes incorporated within the test requisition aim to streamline the process for health care professionals when ordering tests. Key Updates Include: - Removal of HTLV I and HTLV II Tests. When ordering HTLV I or HTLV II serology and PCR, use PHO’s General Test Requisition.
- Addition of HIV self-testing results in “Reason to Test” section. For specimen submitted following testing with the HIV self-test, indicate the result as positive, negative or invalid.
- Race/Ethnicity category changed from “Southeast Asian” to “Southeast/East Asian”
- Printed copies of the HIV Serology and HIV PCR Test Requisition will no longer be supplied by PHO. Please discard all printed copies of previous versions. Old requisitions will be accepted until November 15, 2021.
Heath care professionals are asked to complete all sections within the test requisition to ensure proper clinical assessment and timely surveillance.
