Make non-violence infectious

More than 100 people turned out to the candle-lighting at Raby Bay Harbour last Wednesday to remember those who have lost their lives through domestic and family violence.

A new campaign designed to end domestic violence was launched during the event and an additional 10 days paid domestic violence leave for Council employees announced.

Redlands celebrates reconciliation

Celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in our community during National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June 2016). 

Visit Cleveland Library to see Our Island, Our Story, Our Art – Quandamooka artists from the Redland Art Gallery Collection. On show from 20 May to 10 July, and presented by Redland Art Gallery and Redland Libraries, this exhibition features works from 15 Quandamooka artists from the past 35 years (1981 – 2016).

For some relaxing fun, be sure to visit the Indigenous-themed colouring corner for adults on 28 May from 1-2pm at Cleveland Library.

This year’s Indigi Day Out is not to be missed! Nationally-acclaimed Indigenous band Coloured Stones is headlining the entertainment on Saturday 4 June and the family fun day will also feature a number of activities promoting Quandamooka Country.

Two Redland Libraries are celebrating significant milestones this month with Victoria Point Library celebrating 10 years and Capalaba Library celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Choose your own adventure in the Redlands!

There’s action aplenty this month in the Redlands with a calendar jam-packed with adventure and sporting events.

Last weekend, thousands of hardened athletes tested their endurance at Tough Mudder and the energy is set to continue this weekend as North Stradbroke Island hosts Straddie Salute (pictured), Queensland’s newest destination triathlon that will see participants swim, ride and run amongst the natural beauty of Straddie.
