No Images? Click here Hi supporter, Your ongoing support means the world to children like Gabe who has faced two cancer diagnoses before the age of eight. Thanks to you, Fight Cancer Foundation was able to provide Gabe with vital education support, to ensure he maintained his education and connection with his school and school friends. You can read more about Gabe's story below, as well as an update on Alex and a glimpse into the history of the glitz and glamour of Red Ball Melbourne. Kind regards, Eric Wright GABE'S STORY OF HOPE When eight year old Gabe was diagnosed with cancer for a second time, there was no way of knowing he wouldn’t be able to attend his regular school for 18 months. Devastatingly, that’s exactly what happened. At a crucial stage in his development, Gabe was receiving life-saving cancer treatment in isolation, going months without seeing anyone other than his family. Thankfully our education support program provided Gabe with an alternative to his classroom, ensuring he kept up to date with his schooling. AN UPDATE ON ALEX Alex was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia when he was 20 years old. While Alex underwent treatment, he and his family stayed at our North Melbourne patient accommodation centre. We're so happy to share that three years after his treatment, which included a bone marrow transplant, Alex is healthy and back to living life like any regular 23 year old. In 2019, Fight Cancer Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary. To commemorate, we will be sharing historical milestones in each issue of our E-News. THE FIRST EVER RED BALL The inaugural Red Ball Melbourne was held in 1992 and attracted almost 200 guests.
