Social Notes from Vice Commodore Dan...

Oh man, Labor Day is just a week away and I hope you all have plans to enjoy the three day weekend!

And the Mega Cruise is underway!

In the meantime, there is much going on around your club!

This Friday, August 22th we will have a Drop In Dinner with a Cruise Ship theme!  Our dinner will be appropriately fancy with the following menu:

  • Poached Salmon with a lemon dill butter, Or
  • Grilled pork chops with a reduced balsamic glaze
  • Fuseli pasta with spinach nut pesto and vine ripe cherry tomatoes
  • Steamed sweet green beans
  • Veggie pasta salad
  • Mixed green salad, cucumber, red pepper, fig fennel with sweet Myers lemon dressing.

All at a price of $ 15.00 per person!  Wow, and you don’t need to wear your tuxedo!

And what is a cruise without celebrities?  My people could not confirm with their people, but I believe Past Commodore Anita Giani and Ron Feldman will be joining for the festivities!

And our cruise ships destination?  The Antarctic, of course!  Chris and Michele Hartman will be regaling us with their ship borne exploits way down South!

Next week’s Beer Can Race will coincide with the Hannig Cup.  If you are not familiar with this very worthwhile fund raising event – be sure to come on down.  You can join a race or not, stay for dinner and join the celebration.  Posters and information are posted all around the club.

Sequoia’s Labor Day Cruise takes place next weekend, of course and it is certain to be full up.  If you did not get a chance to participate, get on the website and look ahead to the next event and sign up early!  The fall is the best time for cruising out on the Bay!

Our next dinner event after Labor Day is the General Meeting and Drop In Dinner on September 12th.

Enjoy a restful Labor Day!

Friday Evening Sail

Ahoy Sailors!

If you are "between boats" and haven't been out on the water for a while or you'd like to go for a sail with your friends but don't feel like rigging up the boat, then come join us.

This Friday, August 22nd before the DID we will go for a casual one hour sail to decompress from the work week and spend time on the beautiful south bay waters with our friends. After our sail we will return to the club to enjoy a delicious "drop in dinner" and Chris and Michele Hartman's presentation about their exotic trip to Antarctica.

What: Friday Evening Sail.
When: This Friday, August 22nd from 5PM until 6PM.

Meet at the club at 4:45PM and we will walk down to the boats from there.

Bring your life jacket if you have one. If not we will provide one for you.

Send me an email and let me know if you'd like to come along.

This is going to be fun!

Summer Series #4

Sequoia Racers:

This Saturday, August 23rd, is Summer Series #4. It's been a too long since we have mixed it up on the start line.

The Skipper's meeting is at 11:30 and the start is out on the Bay at 13:30. This is a 5 race series with one throw-out. Even if you have not raced in the series you are welcome to join in and help churn the leader board.  We have spinnaker and non spinnaker divisions.

Be prepared for a change in courses and a change from the typical 3-4 start line. Current standings are available on the Sequoia website.

See you there.
