Sector Spotlight: New Citizens’ Gateway The Barnet Refugee Service has changed its name to become New Citizens’ Gateway (note that the legal name and services provided will remain the same). Over 2,000 refugees and asylum seekers are supported each year through their ‘Integrated Holistic Model of Support’. Their services help reduce social isolation, increase community cohesion and increase mental wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers. Vacancy: Supporter Engagement Officer And now they are seeking a new permanent full-time team member to help look after their supporters in an engaging and reliable way, strengthening their trust of the charity and fostering their loyalty. Closing Date: Monday 10 May Free Seeds Incredible Edible Barnet will be growing a few culturally diverse food plants for the first time to try and make our community garden more accessible. People from ethnic minorities in our community may cook with these plants - Amaranth, Dudi, Luffa and Sharks Fin Melon - but they are hard to buy in the shops. If you have space to try and grow any of these plants get in touch and Wendy will happily send you some seeds. The Heritage Seed Library kindly provided the Amaranth and Dudi seeds so there are lots of these in particular to go around. And if you have any growing tips or recipes Wendy would love to hear from you!
