Tourism New Zealand's Marketing Strategy

Tourism NZ is now in the final year of its current four-year marketing strategy. Already, we are turning our attention to the best way forward for our next four-year strategy. We want you to be part of that discussion by telling us what you think. The following survey is designed to gather your input into what we do now and what you think we should be doing differently into the future. Please take some time to share your thoughts - the survey will be open until the end of July.

“Dragons" Announced for New Event Competition in Whanganui

Do you have the best ever idea for a new Whanganui event?

The “dragons” are lining up to come to Whanganui to be the judges in the Whanganui “Den of Dragons” public event competition.

They're looking for the person/people with the best idea, the passion, the skills and time to make it all happen - and the grand prize is worth over $15,000.

"The idea is seen as unique for event discovery and development. We currently have 5 entries and I’ve been told of several more to come as the deadline gets closer” said Lyn Cheyne, Promotion and Marketing Manager of Whanganui and Partners.

Entries can be made via http://whanganuiwhatson.nz/ by 10 July.  From these submissions, the best will be selected and they will be asked to present live to the judges and a public audience on 27 July.

Rotorua: the two sides of the tourism boom

New Zealand's tourist hotspots are creaking under the pressure of ever-increasing visitor numbers and a lack of facilities.

Christmas is coming many times a year for Steve Roberts.

Rotorua's Adventure Playground, where he is chief executive, offers clay bird shooting, quad-biking and horse treks. Visitor numbers are growing at 80 per cent a year. The company had taken on an extra 15 staff over the last three years to cope with the added load.

"We can have some huge weekends and you'd think it's Christmas time and we've never had that before," he said. Roberts put the exponential growth down to more conference and corporate visitors and the burgeoning Chinese market. Read more here.
