A core aim of The Ancestral Health Society of New Zealand is to promote research and disseminate knowledge relevant to the health, environmental, and economic benefits of an ancestral lifestyle, where human evolutionary biology forms a starting point for such inquiries. With this in mind, we hold a biennial symposium, inviting speakers from around the globe to our fair shores, to share their ideas and perspectives. With speakers coming from Europe, UK, USA, Canada, and Australia, as well as plenty of home-grown New Zealand talent, this a truly international event. Our presenters will cover a range of topics, including nutrition, medicine, psychology, movement and physical activity, including theory, and in some cases, practical application, discussing the evolutionary origins of disease, modern biological mismatches, and how the knowledge of the past might inform us on both the problems of present, and those of the future. We are pleased to welcome the return of a few 2015 favourites, Professor Felice Jacka (Australia), Dallas Hartwig (Canada), Steph Gaudreau (USA), and Darryl Edwards (UK), as well as some exciting new speakers for 2017, including Katy Bowman (USA), Pedro Bastos (Portugal), Grace Liu (USA), and Tim Gerstmar (USA). We hope to see you in Queenstown this Southern Hemisphere spring! Jamie Scott |
