This week, we are starting our class series for the month with all new exciting topics. We are also offering 15min Shim Sham lesson during the dance included in all the tickets. All our events are masked and vaxxed. Wednesday April 56:45 pm: Doors open Register online NOW. Our masking and vaccination policy is enforced at all times during the event. DJ Dance Party (9:15-11:30 pm)No partner or experience is required, just show up with comfortable shoes. We would love to dance with you! April Class Series (4 weeks)We do not offer drop-ins in class series. So make sure to register for the monthly class series before the first session starts. Journey Series (7:05-8:05 pm)Me: Spring into Variations: Independent improvisation is core value of partnered swing dance and nowhere is this more visible than in variations: the injection of personal styling and rhythm into well-worn dance patterns. Test your balance, rhythm, and coordination with these stylings that will spice up your 8-ct, 6-ct, and charleston moves!
Performance Series (7:05-8:05 pm)St. Louis Shim Sham: The St. Louis Shim Sham is a routine choreographed by Jon Tigert. He was visiting St. Louis when his friend asked him to participate in a local line dance competition. It is an advanced beginner to intermediate solo jazz routine.
Beginners Series (8:15-9:15 pm)6-count Lindy Hop: Come learn Lindy Hop! This origin story of all swing dances is fun, creative, and addicting. Progressive material over the course of the month will get you up and dancing at our weekly parties in no time. Small Groups Series (8:15-9:15 pm)Remains To Be Seen: Historical records are incredibly important to the swing community, the advent of the dance coinciding with the development of film, radio, and recording technology. Today we continue to draw inspiration from video clips of modern competitions and performances. In this class, you will learn ways to break down video clips, apply them to your dancing, and learn about the biases, origins, and limitations of using visual records. w/ Lori Taniguchi & Walter Luh
