The great unretirement

Why are retirees swapping the sofa for the office chair?

In recent years, there has been a growing trend of people returning to work after retirement, a phenomenon known as the "Great Unretirement." While retirement used to be seen as a time of rest and relaxation, many individuals are now choosing to stay active and engaged in the workforce for longer.

Find out from our blog post what the benefits are of 'The Great Unretirement'.

Managing debt

Have you ever found yourself struggling with debt payments or worrying about how to manage your debts effectively? Debt can be a significant source of stress and financial strain, but fortunately, there are ways to manage it and regain control of your finances.

Therefore, we have answered some frequently asked questions that can help make decisions on how to manage your debts.

'Should I pay off debt or save money?'

'How should I decide which debt to pay off first?’

'Where can I help with debt?'

What is the National Debtline?

If you are falling into debt, it can be easy to fall into traps where you end up borrowing from payday Lenders where you pay exorbitant interest rates or from illegal money lenders (Loan Sharks) who may threaten you if you can’t pay on time.

You may think that you are on your own and you will always be in debt – however this is not always the case. You can turn to organisations such as the National Debtline service.

The benefits of a Child Benefit Loan from Thamesbank

A Child Benefit Loan from Thamesbank can have quite a few advantages including:

  • Low-interest rates: We typically offer lower interest rates on loans compared to traditional banks or payday lenders. This can make borrowing money more affordable and manageable for families on a tight budget.
  • No hidden fees: As we are a not-for-profit organisation, we do not charge hidden fees or penalties for early repayment. This can save families money in the long run.
  • Quick approval process: We may be able to process loan applications quicker than traditional banks, which can be helpful for families who need money urgently.
  • Helps build credit: Borrowing and repaying a loan from a credit union can help families build their credit history and improve their credit score. This can make it easier to access credit in the future for larger purchases, such as a home or car.
  • Get a loan top up: We offer a loan top up of £250 after three months and a second top up of £250 after a further three months on their loans. Learn more.

If you or someone you know would like to apply for a Child Benefit Loan, you can do so on our website.

Words of wisdom

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Sir Winston Churchill

This quote means that earning a living is essential for survival, but true fulfilment in life comes from giving to others. It highlights the importance of generosity, kindness, and compassion, which are essential for a meaningful and fulfilling life.

At Thamesbank, our success is not just measured by our financial performance but also by our ability to make a positive impact on the lives of our members and the communities we serve.
