LCA enews - keeping us connected

South-eastern Australia experiencing extreme weather

Please pray for the members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blyth South Australia. Yesterday (28 September 2016) their church building was seriously damaged. Pray also for the Blyth community, and all of South Australia, that we support each other through this serious weather event. Our thoughts and prayers now also turn to the eastern states of Australia as this weather front continues across to Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland.

Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Campaign Coordinator
BACKGROUND
The following resolution was passed at the 2015 LCA General Convention of Synod:
That the Convention of Synod reaffirms its condemnation of all forms of violence in the family and authorises GCC to commit resources for a church-wide campaign to address the prevalence of Family Violence amongst us, which may include sharing of resources, education initiatives and the provision of pastoral care to the survivors of violence, as well as the perpetrators of abuse.

A small working group has been established by the Executive Officer of the Church. It has developed a campaign strategy, which will be implemented between October 2016 and October 2018.
The campaign is based on the principles set out in the LCA Standards of Ethical Behaviour which promote compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience within relationships.  It supports the LCA Statement on Marriage.

It is proposed that the campaign will involve training, research, identifying and developing resources, recommending and implementing specific actions.
The campaign will involve the congregations/parishes, institutions/organisations, departments and ministries of the LCA.
