January 2016

  Dear friend of the Church,

A very warm welcome to the first edition of our new monthly e-newsletter. When you and thousands of others registered for our online Advent Calendar, you also requested future news and information from the Church of Scotland via email. Our e-newsletter will be a mix of interesting stories and useful information about forthcoming Church activities and events.

It has been my great privilege to be Moderator for these past months. It has given me the opportunity to see the enormous breadth and variety of the work the Church does in sharing the Good News of God's love for us in Jesus, and in his name offering a helping hand to those who need it most. I hope these newsletters will offer you a fresh insight into the rich and varied life of our Church.

If you have friends or family who might be interested in receiving our e-newsletter, share this email and they can subscribe via this link.

You can, of course, easily unsubscribe from our e-newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of the email. And, naturally, we would be grateful to receive any suggestions you might have about the sort of content you’d like to see in future e-newsletters. You can send suggestions to reply-tomorrowscalling@churchofscotland.org.uk

With every blessing

Rt Rev Dr Angus Morrison

Ministry on the edge of the world

Watch our new ‘life in ministry’ video featuring Rev David McNeish of Milestone Parish Church on Orkney. In this fascinating short film, David talks about his journey into ministry, life on Orkney and his work ministering to people in a remote and challenging location. This video is part of the Kirk’s new Tomorrow’s Calling campaign, which aims to increase awareness of Ordained Ministry as a highly rewarding career for anyone with a calling to do God’s work. Find out more at our new Tomorrow’s Calling website.

The Church of Scotland is running its first Vocations Conference of 2016 on Saturday 6th Feb at Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline. If you, or someone you know, feels God calling and would like to discover more about a career in Ministry, then our Vocations Conferences are the next step. Meet with like-minded people and hear from experts in the Church of Scotland who will talk about life and work as a full-time ordained minister and discuss with you the training process for ministry.   An Amazing Advent

Thank you for supporting our online Advent last month. Every day of Advent we released a new short-film created by Church of Scotland ministers. Their thought-provoking and inspiring messages for Advent truly struck a cord, with a remarkable 81,000 video views recorded. By putting our ministers at the heart of the Kirk’s Advent message and by embracing online media, we were able to support the wider recruitment aims of Tomorrow’s Calling. You can view all our Advent videos at this YouTube playlist.
