EMBRACE WINTER

Inspiration from cities around the world to get outdoors in our communities this winter.

Many cities have reimagined their public spaces during COVID, with new outdoor dining, car-free pedestrian-only streets, and pop-up parks on sidewalks or in parking spaces. These spaces helped support local businesses, gave us more room to be active, and saved our sanity during the pandemic. With colder weather approaching there is a concern that we will be barricaded in our homes for months to come. But can we extend our reimagining to colder temperatures? How can we extend these kinds of creative transformations of outdoor spaces through the winter season to keep people healthy and socially connected?

Join the Barr Foundation, 8 80 Cities, and Bench Consulting (by Patronicity) for a two-part series exploring how people in cold-weather cities can stay active and engaged all year round.

  • November 17, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Inspire – Guillermo (Gil) Penalosa, is founder and chair of 8 80 Cities, urban expert on cities for all, regardless of age or background, focuses on sustainable mobility and parks and other public spaces.
