Te Māngai Pāho Māori Music Funding Round 2015

Te Māngai Pāho is currently seeking to fund a range of high quality Māori music tracks for broadcast through the network of 21 iwi radio stations. Applicants are now invited to submit proposals for recordings in the 2015 Māori Music Funding Round, by 5pm, Thursday 9 July 2015.

 
 
 

 

Auckland Council’s Music in Parks 2016

Auckland City Council is looking for established and upcoming New Zealand based artists across a range of genres from rock, blues, pop, and electronic to country, jazz, big band and swing to feature in the 2016 Music in Parks concert series.  Submissions close at midnight, Sunday 9 August.

Jack Body: Passing By               This album features chamber works by one of our most revered and cherished composers. With new recordings from NZTrio and Stephen De Pledge, recent recordings from Kronos Quartet, Del Sol Quartet, Stroma New Music Ensemble, New Music Works Ensemble, David Radzynski, and Ensemble Nomad, Passing By is a testament to the career of one of New Zealand’s most inspired (and inspiring) artists.

 
 

Events

The New Zealand Brass Band Championships take place in Rotorua from 8-12 July.

The New Zealand International Film Festival takes place from 16 July to 20 September at various locations around the country. This year the NZIFF includes a selection of music films that feature music and sound by NZ composers, as well as a documentary about SOUNZ composer Phil Dadson.  Take a look here

 
 
 

NZSM presents STILL MUSIC, a concert of Lilburn’s electroacoustic music and late piano works, on 23 July.  

Curated by Michael Norris and Dugal McKinnon, this carefully balanced programme will illuminate how Lilburn became fascinated by issues of space, sound and symmetry.
