Important notice to all members

The EWA Board received a request by Jumping WA committee for the EWA Board to call a Special General Meeting (SGM) to change procedures in regard to voting at annual elections for sport committee positions. The EWA Board (EWA) decided against this request and reminded the Jumping committee that an SGM will be held with the 2020 EWA AGM as the EWA Chairperson had stated at the EWA AGM in May. This will ensure that EWA thoroughly investigates all aspects of the Constitution and update accordingly. EWA believes that any changes require consultation with all Sport committees and the membership to ensure that the proposed changes are in the best interest of the sport.

Some members will be aware that a member now wishes to call for an SGM with the purpose of making changes to the Constitution. We do not believe that trying to rush this process prior to the 2019 Elections would allow sufficient time to arrive at suitable resolutions to propose to the membership for the significant changes to the EWA Constitution that have been requested.

EWA is asking our members not to support the calling of the proposed member SGM. We would prefer the membership helps us with due diligence and consultation, to identify the best possible structure for the Sport committees for the future and introduce this in 2020.
