There is no Vice Commodore Dan's light-hearted banter this week. No Commodore Winston's sage commentary. No Rear Commodore Rick's pithy descriptions of the finer aspects of sailing. They're all at the Delta!!!

Obviously they're engaging in so much fun and frivolity there's no time to report back to the poor SYC members who didn't take advantage of this amazing opportunity. So much the pity!

However, in an impressive show of willpower and self-sacrifice, Vice Commodore Dan was able to tear himself away from the festivities long enough to text photos back to all us envious stay-at-homes. If a photo is worth a thousand words, here's a short novel for your enlightenment and entertainment:

The race will be on Saturday, August 9th, with a skippers meeting at 2pm at SYC and the start between markers 3 & 4 at 3:30pm. 

The course is around Alcatraz Island this year, finishing under the full super-moon.  There will be spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions.

Noel Bird (machtch.noel@gmail.com) has designed a cool shirt for the race this year.  100% cotton, 6oz, white - see attached artwork.  $18 for Small to XLG, $24 for XXLG to XXXXLG.  Email Noel with quantities and sizes (non-racers too).  Shirts must be ordered by 7/31 (that's tomorrow, folks) to be ready for the race.

It has been brought to the attention of the editor that last week's Blast! erroneously listed Joan Stingley's age as "89" for her upcoming birthday. We have been advised that the "8" should be a "3" and apologize for the the stupidity of offending such a fine lady.
