Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Vale Colin Walker - Our school community is saddened to hear of the passing of our neighbour Colin Walker. Colin is the father of Pam and grandfather of Jackson (Year 6) and past students Ainslie and Lokki. Colin was always a happy man with a beaming smile who was always ready for a chat. He has long been a watchful eye over our school and could always be relied on to throw the balls back over the fence.  Please keep Mrs Walker and all of the Walker family in your prayers at this difficult time.

Brenton Noye - Last week I sent home a letter to all families about Brenton Noye leaving us for bigger and better adventures. As much as we would love to keep him all to ourselves, the new job was just too good to refuse.  We are very proud of Brenton being appointed as a System Administrator for Catholic Education Sandhurst.  Brenton will finish with us on Friday and we wish him all the very best.

On Site Supervision - Please be aware that we are not allowed to teach students who attend on site supervision.  We are here to supervise these children only. Students who attend on-site still do their learning remotely through Google Meets, just the same as every other student. We are not allowed to teach students on-site as this would be discriminatory to those students learning from home.

If you need support with your child’s learning, please get in touch with your child’s teacher via email, as they too are working from home – in many cases with their children - and they will do their best to get in touch with you.

On-site supervision is only available to children of authorised workers where both parents (or one parent in the case of single parent families) cannot work from home and no other supervision arrangements can be made. If you are an authorised worker and working from home, you must keep your child at home. We live in a small community so please be honest about working from home.  We understand how tough this is for everybody, however we must follow guidelines set out by the Government.

Stay safe
Libby Hamilton

Week 8 Prayer

Jesus is a miracle worker. He heals lepers, casts out demons, calms storms, walks on water. In the Gospels the miracles are obvious – a deaf man can hear and speak, water is changed to wine, thousands of people are fed, a little girl is brought back to life. In our lives the miracles are often more subtle. We have to pay attention to see how our lives change when Jesus is part of them. We will see, hear and experience God’s love around us.

Mark 7: 31-37

Jesus returned from the region of Tyre and went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee in the region of the Decapolis. Some people brought to him a man who was deaf and who had an impediment in his speech.

They begged Jesus to lay his hand on him. Jesus took him aside in private away from the crowd and put his fingers into his ears. He spat and touched his tongue.

Then looking up to heaven, Jesus sighed and said – Jesus: Ephphatha.

This word means ‘Be opened’. Immediately the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.

When Jesus heals the deaf man in this week’s gospel, he gives the man hope and returns him to his family and friends. Everyone feels out of place sometimes and needs encouragement. ‘Keep Your Head Up’ is a positive anthem to remind us that there is always hope things can get better

This week: Be aware of our surroundings. We have the ability to make a difference and treat a person who may be less fortunate than us with respect and dignity.

This week, each day, we ask Jesus to open our ears so we can listen closely. People will come across our path who need us to listen, or to whom we need to listen.
