Does your project need grant money?Now’s the time to submit applications for the latest round of Council’s Community Grants Program. The program offers funding support to groups and individuals undertaking community-based projects in the Redlands. Open until Friday 3 March, this program offers up to $10,000 in funding support depending on the grant category, and has contributed more than $500,000 to community projects this year alone. exhibition, a celebration of our City’s love of art and those that have championed it. Marking the 14th anniversary of the Redland Art Gallery’s (RAG’s) official opening on Valentine’s Day 14 February 2003, the exhibition features works chosen by long-serving gallery volunteers. 14 x 14 is one of three new exhibitions across the RAG Cleveland and Capalaba gallery spaces this month. Temporary closure - Birkdale Waste Transfer Station Birkdale Waste Transfer Station will be closed from Monday 13 February to Sunday 5 March (weather permitting) as part of the final stage of the Birkdale Landfill Rehabilitation project. Residents are encouraged to use the Redland Bay Waste Transfer Station during the temporary closure. Read more>>

Our history- Island produce pioneers
From edible flowers to other gourmet goods, the Southern Moreton Bay Islands have long been a hotspot for produce in our City...longer than many people realise. Pictured is the 'Roo' fruit boat, which was used to transport produce to the Brisbane markets from Russell, Karragarra, Macleay and Lamb Islands. The photo from the 1930-40’s shows the middle section of the boat's long stern piled with boxes set for a trip across the bay. Read more>>
