St John's School Newsletter Term 4 Week 3
St John's is a Child Safe School where all children are respected and are protected from harm. Principal's Message Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to Week 4! A reminder that this weekend is also a long weekend. On Monday 2nd November there is a school closure day for report writing and Tuesday 3rd November is a public holiday due to the Melbourne Cup. Yesterday we had our school photos finally taken. The company believe that the photos should be ready by the third week in November. We will distribute the photos as soon as we get them. Photo's can also be ordered on line at www.eliteschoolphotography.com.au using the online code ESP202515. If you have any difficulty please phone ESP on 9570 0311. Thank you for your patience with this. Bluearth Coach - Yesterday we welcomed our new Bluearth coach, Jimmy Ivill to our school. Jimmy will be visiting us every second Monday. I would like to thank Ross Hill our previous Bluearth coach for all his efforts over the past two years engaging our staff and students through the Bluearth program, especially during the remote learning periods where Ross worked hard to keep connected to our school. New Emergency Teachers - Due to Covid it has been very difficult to book Emergency Teachers, however our persistence has paid off and we have been able to book Sophie Allen (Mr McKernan’s sister) and Joshua Howarth (from Benalla) to work at intermittent times through to the end of the year. We are looking forward to working with Sophie and Joshua. Athletics Day - Tomorrow is Athletics Day. We haven’t had many opportunites to have fun days as a whole school so we are encouraging students to dress up in their house colours to celebrate the day. There will be a free sausage sizzle and zooper dooper, but students will need to bring extra snacks and a named drink bottle (as we are still not allowed to use the drinking fountains). Unfortunately, parents will not be allowed on site during the day but we hope to make a movie of the day for you to view on Facebook. Crackers the Cow - Mrs Watson has been working for months on Crackers the cow and on the weekend she finally finished it. The cow looks fantastic with pop art photos of all members of our school community on it. This week we have the Euroa Gazette and WIN News from Shepparton reporting on the cow, so keep an eye out for the stories. Well done to Mrs Watson for all her hard work and sleepless nights thinking about Crackers. Casserole Bank - We would like to sincerely thank the families who have contributed to our caserole bank this year. The casserole bank supports families with a range of needs and are much appreciated. Libby Hamilton. Calendar of Events
Religious Education Week 4 Prayer Matthew 22: 27 Jesus said, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Let us be still in the presence of God, quietening our minds, quietening our bodies, opening our hearts to the Spirit of God. Let us listen to the sounds of God in creation, the echo of God in our hearts, the whisper of the Spirit in our world. Breathing in all that fills our heart with Christ, breathing out all that distances us from Christ. Amen. No student of the week this week. Book Week in Art!Last week in Art we were reading 'We're stuck'. About a group of animals that don't really talk to each other until they get stuck in a lift, then they become great friends. The students made a keepsake keyring and they were deciding who to give it to. The aim was that they would think of someone they hadn't seen for a while, or someone who might be lonely or someone who they wanted to make smile. It would be great if you could have a discussion with your child about who they'd like to give their keyring to and why.
