October 2015

To our customers, staff and friends,

As many of you will know, at Emterra we talk often about the balance we seek in our triple bottom line performance measurements—financial, environmental and social. First of all we’re entrepreneurial so the overall financial health of the company is of primary concern. I am personally grateful for the recognition from PROFIT and Chatelaine as No. 15 on the 17th annual W100 list of Canada's Top Female Entrepreneurs. A healthy company offers a more stable employment environment which is in itself a goal, but it also opens the doors to more innovative approaches to the other two pillars, environment and social.

On the environmental front, we evaluate options and make decisions based on how we can mitigate the impact of our operations on the resources we consume, the energy we use and the air we breathe. Our strategic vision challenges us to be more energy efficient, to produce higher quality, closed loop products from waste resources, and to be a leader as a green-tech, clean-tech company. You’ll hear more about that in the next issue of ‘Terra Notes.

In this issue you’ll also read about the third pillar, our social initiatives under our Community Care program which focus on the health and well-being of the communities where we live and work.

We hope you enjoy reading this issue and, as always, we look forward to hearing your comments and questions.

Best wishes,
