Health Promotion 101We are hosting free Health Promotion 101 training workshops in August and September. The training will provide an overview of health promotion and practical tips to assist organisations in applying for funding through Healthway’s Partnership Program. Visit the Healthway website here. Nannup is bloomingHealthway is delighted to support the LiveLighter Nannup Flower and Garden Festival which runs from the 13 August to 20 September. The town will be in full bloom with more than 10,000 tulips on display. Festival-goers can take part in workshops to learn about edible plants for their home garden, growing your own vegies and techniques for self-seeding and seed saving and food preservation. Guiding good mental healthSportWest received a Healthway grant to develop a framework to guide and strengthen mental health prevention initiatives across community sport in Western Australia. The grant will see SportWest coordinate the project in partnership with Healthway, the WA Association for Mental Health, the Mental Health Commission and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. Singing tunes of supportAct-Belong-Commit encourages us all to take action to maintain our mental wellbeing, and Healthway’s partnership with WAM enables young people to share this message in their own voice. The West Australia Music (WAM) Song of the Year 2020 virtual awards party was held on the 29 of July and was a huge success with more than 6,000 people watching online. Community, Respect, EqualityFamily violence can impact our physical and mental health. Through a Healthway Intervention Research Grant, the WA Centre for Rural Health developed the Conversations for Change project, which is underpinned by community organisations signing up to the Community, Respect & Equality Agreement. The project encourages all sectors of the Geraldton community to work together to help prevent family violence. Find out more. Barking Ensembles is back!Barking Gecko is proudly supported by Healthway to promote the Act-Belong-Commit message. Through this partnership, Gecko Ensembles provides a safe, supportive and creative space for children and young people to come together. KIDDO, improving kids moves The University of WA's KIDDO program is helping to grow young children's confidence with jumping, throwing, running, catching and kicking. Thanks to Healthway funding, the KIDDO program provided support to 100 WA schools and Early Childhood Education Services in disadvantaged communities over the past year.
