FROM THE CHAIR
What a month March was! The Australian Young Horse Championships, aka PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars, showcased a fabulous display of talented young horses across Jumping, Dressage and Eventing. The strength of our performance horse breeding certainly makes one feel very optimistic about the future of our sport.
Blessed with glorious weather, WPNEC was at its very best as competitors and spectators soaked up the atmosphere of three action packed days that saw competitors travelling from across Australia. This year saw the inclusion of the 'Young Eventing Horse' class, judged by the well known and highly successful New Zealand Team Eventing Coach, Erik Duvander. Designed to showcase the talents and potential of young eventing horses, it was a popular addition and one that we believe will only become more so. An event such as this is impossible without an enormous amount of effort from staff and volunteers. The very biggest of “THANK YOUs” and “CONGRATULATIONS” to Event
Directors Sue McKay and Deb McNicol, who, with the support of enthusiastic and hard-working volunteers, conducted what we feel is one of the best DJWTS events ever. Beautiful weather, stunning horses and ponies, food, wine, a fantastic Trade Village for shopping - could it get any better? You can read all about the event later in this edition, but I would also like to mention and recognise the support of our very generous Sponsors. We can’t begin to thank each and every one of them enough.
Appointment of Bernard Saundry
Your EV Board is pleased to announce that we have appointed Bernard Saundry to provide executive services to the organisation. Bernard is a highly experienced appointment who has been actively involved in the racing, sports and entertainment sectors for more than 35 years. Bernard will provide executive services to EV and assist with the CEO recruitment
process and strategic development. Please read the
full announcement. New Show Horse and Measuring Rules
There are new Show Horse and Measuring rules effective on July 1, and I would like to acknowledge and thank the Chair of Show Horse Victoria, Mitch Fox, who, along with the assistance of David Shavin and Ian Percy, put in an enormous amount of work over the past two years to bring this about. This issue of EV News is packed with important information for all members. I urge you to read through the articles and keep yourself informed about upcoming events, administration matters and a range of education courses for both riders and officials. Until next month, safe riding to all. Ingrid Green | Equestrian Victoria Chair
