There is a good chance you have seen the names and faces of Dr. Dixie Harris and Dr. Jeanette Brown in the local news lately. That is due to the fact that these two outstanding physicians, who have both spent time at the front lines treating the most critically ill patients with COVID-19 over the past 15 months, and are also treating patients who continue to struggle with COVID-19; sometimes months after their initial symptoms began. This patient population, often referred to as “long haulers,” now have access to even more specialized care in Utah with the opening of the University of Utah Post-COVID Clinic and doctors and research scientists learning more and more everyday about how best to provide care. National Conference Scholarships - Deadline Extended
The AAFP Foundation Family Medicine Leads (FML) program is offering $200 scholarships for medical students and family medicine residents to attend National Conference. The scholarship application deadline has been extended to June 15. The 2021 AAFP National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students will take place July 29–31. All AAFP student and resident members considering family medicine are invited to attend this one-of-a-kind event full of networking, residency programs, educational sessions, and more.

CDC Studies Compare Antibiotic Use Before, During Pandemic
AAFP - Two CDC-funded studies published in recent months appear to shed light on certain antibiotic prescribing trends seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, finding that although some short-term increases were seen among antibiotics specifically investigated as potential COVID treatment options, overall prescribing of antimicrobials was down compared with previous years.
