There's been a lot of interest in this LCA Communications workshop and registrations are coming in fast. It will held in Adelaide on Wednesday, 2 April, and will be tailor-made to participants' communications needs. If there's sufficient interest, we'll run more of these workshops - on Saturdays and in other Districts. Click on the picture for more information and to register your interest in this or future workshops. If you're not personally interested in this sort of thing, we bet you know somebody in your congregation who is! Please let them know.

GOVERNANCE & ADMINISTRATION REVIEW

As reported in the last LCA eNews, the Governance and Administration Review, authorised by General Convention of Synod, is underway. Consultations involving pastors and congregation representatives have been held in Adelaide, Horsham, Albury, Hamilton and Brisbane. This Saturday congregation leaders can have their say in Melbourne and on the Sunshine Coast. After that, the next cabs off the rank are Naracoorte, Wudinna, Toowoomba, Berri and Sydney. Click here for details for these and future consultations, or email governancereview@lca.org.au

MARCH EDITION IS SHINING BRIGHT

Have you checked out The Lutheran's cool new website yet? Previews of feature stories, lots of ways to engage with your people, and (very important!) all you need to promote The Lutheran in your congregation and community, including each month a YouTube intro by editor Rosie. The Lutheran is still far and away our most popular communication medium, so please do all you can to sustain it. Please promote it often and enthusiastically, and encourage your congregation and community to subscribe. And don't forget that The Lutheran is available FOR FREE on iTunes (iPad and iPhone) and Google Play (for androids) until June.

CHRONIC PAIN

How do you make sense of suffering? Just when life seemed to have fallen into place, Pastor Stephen Abraham was knocked down with Chronic Pain. Lutheran Media through Face to Face brings you a series of five mini-movies about his struggles and the hope that keeps him going. The Chronic mini-movies will be released over the next two months. Go to www.facetoface.org.au or to www.youtube.com/luthmedia to subscribe. Feel free to download and share Introducing Chronic Pain:

ICT ADVISERS

The LCA Information and Technology Advisory Committee provides advice to LCA decision-makers about the use of ICT in the church. It is seeking members who have experience and expertise in the following areas:

  • information and communication technology
  • social media
  • communication and administration
  • strategic management.

Expressions of interest to Peter Schirmer, Executive Officer of the Church. Please forward this note to anyone whose gifts or experience equip them for this volunteer role.

STAT RETURNS - BORING BUT NECESSARY

Huge thanks to the 250 congregations who have submitted their 2013 statistical returns. Take a bow, and feel good that's one less thing on your 'to do' list. As for the other 308, we know some of you are making progress - thank you for that - but if you haven't made a start yet, please do so quickly as the returns are now overdue. We know this is not the spice of life, but, like washing the car, you just have to do it! Thanks for making the effort.
