AI, LABOR & THE ECONOMY

Announcing PAI’s Guidelines for AI and Shared Prosperity

Dear Partners,

Today's decisions about how AI is deployed will change the workplace of tomorrow. As such, I’m pleased to announce the launch of PAI’s Guidelines for AI and Shared Prosperity, designed to steer us towards a future where AI doesn’t “steal jobs” but rather creates good jobs and positive economic benefits for society. Learn more at our webinar, “How to Make AI Work for Workers” on Wednesday, June 21.

How can AI be designed and deployed to protect workers' rights and well-being? Anton Korinek (Brookings Institution), Pamela Mishkin (OpenAI), Rahul Panicker (Intrinsic), and Ryan Gerety (United for Respect) join PAI's Katya Klinova and Stephanie Bell to delve into AI and the future of work.

Coming at a crucial time for both AI and the economy, the Guidelines include a tool to assess an AI system’s high-level impacts on workers and the labor market, best practices for AI-creating and AI-using organizations, as well as suggested uses for labor organizations, workers, and policymakers.

This work would not be possible without the Partner community, particularly the AI and Shared Prosperity Initiative’s Steering Committee and the frontline workers whose lived experiences informed this work. My thanks to Katya Klinova and Stephanie Bell who have been leading this effort at PAI.

Please join us on June 21 to learn more about this work and how your organization can help test and refine the Guidelines. We hope to see you there!

Best,
Rebecca Finlay
