NEWS NEST BOX FINDCouncil’s Bushland and Biodiversity staff recently found a family of Eastern Pygmy-Possums while checking local nest boxes. This threatened species feeds largely on nectar and pollen from banksias, eucalypts and bottlebrushes and are important pollinators for heathland plants. EDUCATING OUR KIDS IN THE FIELDWhat makes Manly a great place to live or visit?Year 8 students from Barker College spent a day out in the field discovering the answers to this question. They looked at recreational, commercial and residential aspects of the Manly area. The program, a joint initiative between the school and the Coastal Environment Centre, gave students the opportunity to use a range of geographical tools to help them draw a field sketch of the stunning Shelly Beach area.
