Did you know that the LCA has a web page dedicated to welcoming new staff to our Aged Care and Community Services? This page also includes a fantastic induction video resource. A Chaplain's StoryThis call came ‘out of the blue’ and presented a new direction at a time in both my parish and personal life that I felt God’s hand on. The call is to a new position as ½ time chaplain to Riverview Rest Home in Loxton and the remainder with a focus on aged care, working in cooperation with other northern Riverland pastors in Renmark, Paringa, Berri and Barmera. Most likely this will be the last call of my ministry until retirement but the freshness of a different situation to ordinary parish ministry also stimulates me. It challenges me to mission and service among ‘warriors’ in the twilight years of faithfully lived Christian lives, and to others for whom questions of a certain hope for eternity become more urgent because their remaining days in this life are few. Ministry that says “Christ knows, loves, remembers, and feeds you when through dementia you might slowly forget Him” My wife, Anna, and I are looking forward to country community life again and the lovely weather in autumn, winter and spring in the Riverland. I hear the golf courses there are great too! Exciting News The Commission on Worship have just released their new Worship planning website. This wonderful new website has ready to go resources that include powerpoints with backgrounds chosen to be high-contrast and easy to read and have the service orders with traditional hymns and readings all filled in. They are labelled ‘Ready to Go resources’ in the Service Order section of each week’s service. The website also has large print bulletin templates and weekly large print Spread the Word bulletin inserts, these can be found under Bulletin Resources. Please take the time to have a look as it is packed with wonderful worship resources.
