REMI STUD SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS OPEN

The Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship is an annual Scholarship awarded to a deserving Young Rider who has talent and dedication in either Dressage, Showing or Eventing. The winner will receive a purpose-bred Remi Stud Hanoverian weanling by Lauries As (imp) and extensive support package worth a total of $30,000. Applications close 30 June. MORE

POSITION AVAILABLE: SEC CARETAKER

EWA is seeking a Caretaker for the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon. The successful applicant will live on-site in the recently renovated Caretaker house and perform after hours and weekend duties for 12 hours per week. The full Position Description is now available on the EWA website. MORE

SEC FACILITY LEVY UPDATE

EWA is pleased to announce that a number of projects have been completed at the State Equestrian Centre thanks to the funds raised by the $5 SEC Facility Levy which was introduced in early 2017. Recently some of the funds were used towards repairs to the International Dressage Arena judge box doors, as well as the arrival of a new portable dressage arena. HORSES WANTED FOR RUGBY WORLD SERIES

The organisers of the Rugby World Series are seeking 4-5 horses to take part in the pre-game entertainment for the Western Force vs NZ Crusaders game on 22 June at nib Stadium. The horses will be required to canter around the stadium in Crusaders costumes (video example). If you would like to take part please email mosler@minderoo.com.au.

THUNDERSTORM & LIGHTNING POLICY & PROCEDURES

Thunderstorm and lightning activity is a risk that can cause severe injury or death to people and animals participating in equestrian events. Due to the unpredictability of electrical storms, EWA has developed some guidelines for Clubs and Officials to implement to minimise these risks. MORE

Date: 23 & 24 June

Cost: Promotion $75 (1 day and 1/2), Refresher $50 (1/2 day), Observer $25 (1 day)

This forum/course is for people interested in becoming an EA Official and current EA Officials needing to attend a Refresher Course for reaccreditation. Judges, riders and coaches are also welcome to attend to observe. The day will consist of presentations by EA National Medication Control Officer Dr Cate Plummer, FEI Steward General Chris Wallis and EA Officials Pathway Manager Di Saunders.

RECENT CHANGES TO DRESSAGE EQUIPMENT RULES

The EA Dressage Equipment Committee has recently approved the following changes, effective immediately:

  • A discrete zip up the exposed side (outside) of the rider’s boot/chap/gaiter is now permitted.
  • The three-point Spider Noseband is not permitted in dressage competitions. If worn into the competition arena it will entail elimination by the Dressage Judge.

EWA Show Horse is excited to present the 2018 Show Horse Seminar & Riders Forum. If you are interested in learning more about the sport and what a judge looks for in a successful Show Horse/Hunter, then this is the seminar for you! The Seminar will feature guest speaker Terry Van Heythuysen (VIC) who has been involved with showing horses for many years and has numerous state and national title wins to his credit.

The EWA Show Horse Committee will also be conducting their annual Forum following the Seminar. Riders, judges and event organisers encouraged to attend to discuss the sport.
